I'm earning my Master's in Information Science, and today this article from class intrigued me

So this is just how I interpreted the authors words, but I may be going way off the walls here. But have you kinda ever asked yourself "Wtf is a social media/online influencer?". If you're like me, you may even find yourself often annoyed by the "influencer" crowd, and often think "why do they even exist, what even is the point" this article kinda made me see the entire concept in a different light.

There is a serious case of "information overload" out there in the world-wide web. There is SO much information out there! From books, to articles, to maps, to your very own thoughts. Just the basic concept of "information" itself is totally infinite!  In order to ensure information is distributed properly and accordingly, two factors lie at the epicenter: the audience, and the influencer. The influencer essentially takes in information, finding the information that is most relevant, and compresses it into what can be distributed. THAT is why people LOVE online influencers so much! We see our lives through them, and look up to them as a source of simplified and easy-to-consume information that we can live by and look up to.

But what happens when the influencers are influenced themselves? What happens when these influencers take information and destroy it, only to build it back up again when they retell its story? Influences are kinda "destroying" information because when something is rebuilt, it is NEVER the same. Think of the game "Chinese whispers".

Did you just copy and paste your college assignment to this site? If so... AWESOME! I love college and the way it challenges you to expand your mind. Thanks for sharing your response to the article, I'm guessing you were assigned to read and respond to?

Anyone else who wants to copy and paste their assignments here is welcome to assuming it's done in good faith/because you simply want to share your hard work/lessons learned.

It was an optional reading 🤣 and I did end up using it in a mini-assingment I had, but no, it was not copy pasted I'd have to word it all MUCH better than that if I was turning it in for a grade ! But hey! I'm all for the community sharing their works!

Oh hey man, I've seen some people's assignments, they're... not always spectacular. One dude would keep submitting assignments without forming sentences or paragraphs... it was whack.
