Old is a 2021 American thriller film written, directed, and produced by M. Night Shyamalan. It is based on the French-language Swiss graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederik Peeters. The film features an ensemble cast consisting of Gael García Bernal, Vicky Krieps, Rufus Sewell, Alex Wolff, Thomasin McKenzie, Abbey Lee, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Ken Leung, Eliza Scanlen, Aaron Pierre, Embeth Davidtz, and Emun Elliott. The plot follows a group of people who find themselves aging rapidly on a secluded beach.

Shyamalan decided to adapt Sandcastle into a film after receiving it as a Father's Day gift. The then-untitled project was announced in September 2019, with the filmmaker revealing a partnership with Universal Pictures. The following year, filming took place in the Dominican Republic for three months, during the COVID-19 pandemic, with cinematographer Michael Gioulakis. - Wikipedia

* Spoilers, don't know if any one cares

Ironic, I saw this last week. Definitely have mixed opinions.

I might consider purchasing the book if I am truly interested in comparing and contrasting.

But that would be a lot of care I simply do not have.

I understand the critics declaring this a disappointment on the Director's end. During the tumor removal surgery, the woman who dies after several grand mal seizures, I was somewhat 'shook', I guess?
All in all, The Visit and The Split were movies I thoroughly enjoyed, and I do think that the Director truly shows himself to the best of his ability within those two. Which just indicates the movie Old in comparison to a dirty mud puddle in a parking garage.

This movie focuses on all the wrong things and answering the wrong questions, also not all loose ends should be tied in a 'psychotic thriller'. I would far rather leave it up to my imagination, at least in this genre. The dialogue in Split is far superior to the writing in this film. Pregnancy teased in the trailer was poorly executed in the film.

This movie - a "thriller", actually made me giggle at some points.

Did you go see? Did you enjoy? @Onision
